CCD Celebrates Launch of INFOTEP Language Academy: A Milestone for Dominican BPO Talent Development

May 12th,2025 – Members of the Dominican Contact Centers & BPO Council participated in the official launch of the Instituto Nacional de Formación Técnico Profesional – INFOTEP “Academia de Idiomas”, a strategic joint initiative between this prestigious institution, the Ministerio de Industria y Comercio y Mipymes, and our council.

Bridging the Language Gap in BPO Services

This innovative language academy will provide thousands of Dominican professionals the opportunity to learn and perfect their English language skills, significantly enhancing their employability and preparation to meet the evolving demands of the global market. For our BPO and contact center sector, this represents a crucial step toward strengthening the Dominican Republic’s position as a premier nearshore destination for multilingual services.

Strong Leadership and Collaboration

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Mr. Rafael Santos Badía, General Director of INFOTEP, demonstrating the government’s commitment to workforce development in key economic sectors. The event featured the participation of several distinguished guests, including Johannes Kelner, Vice Minister of Zonas Francas y Regímenes Especiales, Daniel Liranzo, Executive Director of the Consejo Nacional de Zonas Francas, and José Manuel Torres, Executive Vice President of ADOZONA.

Representing CCD Health was Lilliam McCann, General Coordinator of the Cluster de Contact Centers & BPOs and Sr. VP of Operations and IT Services at CCD Health, whose leadership has been instrumental in fostering this collaboration between public institutions and private industry. Her presence underscores CCD’s ongoing commitment to talent development initiatives that benefit both our member companies and the broader Dominican workforce.

A Vision for the Future

The language academy is expected to address one of our industry’s most pressing challenges: the need for qualified bilingual talent to support the continued growth of the BPO sector in the Dominican Republic. By increasing the pool of English-proficient professionals, we anticipate new opportunities for expansion and higher-value service offerings from our member organizations.

We extend our sincere congratulations to INFOTEP for spearheading this valuable initiative and celebrate the positive impact it will undoubtedly have on our industry and the country’s economic development. The CCD remains committed to supporting this and similar programs that enhance the competitiveness of the Dominican Republic in the global services marketplace.
